Last week, two very different conferences told a similar story. At DistribuTECH (DTECH), the conversation centered on grid-scale realities: device portfolios, operational complexity, and how demand flexibility actually works in practice. At AHR, the HVAC industry showed its latest innovations, highlighting smarter, more efficient technologies that have the potential to change the role that heating and cooling play in demand flexibility. Different audiences. Same takeaway: distributed energy is here, and now the industry is racing to make it operational at scale. DTECH: Flexibility is no longer optional One of the most noticeable shifts at DTECH was the increase in battery [...]

We’re excited to share that Derapi was one of 15 companies selected to participate in the Google for Startups Energy cohort, a 10-week program designed to help energy and climate startups scale with confidence. Throughout the program, we worked closely with Google team members across engineering, product, marketing, and operations, gaining access to technical resources and hands-on support from Google’s Energy group. The focus wasn’t just on growth, it was on strengthening the foundations that enable companies to move faster without sacrificing reliability. The cohort also created space for collaboration with other founders tackling complex challenges across the energy ecosystem. [...]

When Enphase Energy set out to make its IQ Battery more valuable for customers, participating in California’s Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS) program was a clear opportunity. The challenge wasn’t access, it was execution. Market signals needed to be translated into precise, real-time battery commands. Performance data had to be reported accurately and automatically to meet program requirements. And all of it had to happen quickly, with limited internal resources and no room for operational drag. That’s where Derapi came in. From Market Signal to Battery Action, Fast Using Derapi’s Control API, Enphase was able to translate signals from Olivine [...]

When Uplight, a leading Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and demand-side management platform, needed to quickly onboard two new battery partners Enphase Energy and FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc., the stakes were high. Thousands of dollars in upfront and ongoing incentives per battery were tied to program timelines. Any delay risked lost sales, missed customer benefits, and unnecessary strain on internal teams. That’s where Derapi stepped in. One Integration, Multiple Battery Partners Using Derapi’s single, standardized API, Uplight was able to connect to both battery partners through one existing integration. What typically requires months of engineering work, coordination, and custom development was [...]
